A movie or TV show with a strong female lead? Let me watch that real quick!
It is very inspiring that we are now able to watch a bunch of movies and TV shows with strong, independent women in it. May it be a superhero or a normal girl just reminding us girls that we can do anything we set our eyes on! We came up with a list of fictional characters that are real girl bosses in their own little way:
1. Diana Prince from Wonder Woman
I mean, this is a given right? But other than the fact that she is Wonder Woman, strong and world-saving amazonian, she is also Diana Prince, a woman who sticks by her morals, her companions and has a pure and good heart. #KWEEN
2. Arya Stark from Game of Thrones
Game of Thrones is a show dominated by men but in recent seasons has been subtly ruled by the women in it. One of the real AF girl bosses in this show is none other than Arya Stark. She is brave to do what she has to do and has the wit to survive in the crazy GoT world. #SLAY
3. Mindy Lahiri from The Mindy Project
Underneath her funny exterior and sometimes dumb decision-making is actually a smart and independent lady who takes on the world in a positive way. She knows what she wants and she goes for it all the time. Go Mindy! #GoGetter
4. Hermione Granger from the Harry Potter series
I don’t know about you but Hermione Granger is one of the movie characters that had inspired us to study hard. She taught us that it is okay to be a “know-it-all” and to be outspoken, especially when we know that we are right. And sometimes, it could save everyone around you. #SmartIsSexy
5. Elle Woods from Legally Blonde
Elle Woods. The epitome of the “don’t judge a book by its cover” saying. Elle is a woman that inspired us that we can set our eyes on anything and to make it possible as long as you have faith in yourself despite the doubters. #HatersGonHate
6. Lady Bird from Lady Bird
In the struggle of finding yourself, it is hard to keep going. Lady Bird showed us that beyond teenage angst and confusion, you will eventually figure it out. It is also a reminder that behind the strength we have, is another strong woman. #ThisIsMe
7. Mellie Grant from Scandal
Mellie Grant is the first female president of the United States of America! It is thrilling and exciting to believe in the possibility of this. Although, all throughout the show, Mellie has shown how strong of a lady she is. With a lot of powerful quotes that are inspiring to everyone, and can make you tell yourself that “that is true and we deserve better!” #EQUALITY
8. Shuri from Black Panther
Black Panther has gotten all the rave reviews because it inspired a lot of African Americans that this type of movie is possible. But we believe that Shuri is a great asset to this movie! She can inspire little kids to be just like her—a smart and savvy young woman. And truly Wakanda wouldn’t have survived without her technology! #WomenIsPower
9. Moana from Moana
Moana was the first Disney “princess” without a love interest. This was focused on her quest to restore the heart of Tafiti, to save her land. She is a brave dreamer and a fighter! She showed us that it is always possible to follow our dreams and still know how come back where we came from. #NeedNoMan
10. Amy Dunne from Gone Girl
Amy Dunne didn’t think she was a cool girl, but she was the coolest of them all! She inspires us to make things happen—not in a frame-your-husband-for-murder type of way (LOL) but how to be resilient and know when to walk away and finally do things for yourself! #GIRLBOSS
To all the women out there, Happy International Women’s Month! Be inspired and be empowered, we are all here for this movement—don’t let anyone tell your otherwise!
